Cho Ray Hospital was established in 1900 with the official name is "Hospital Municipal de Ben Thanh Center" Then turn the hospital was renamed the "Hospital de Cochinchine Indigene" (1919), "Hospital Lalung Bonnaire" (1938), "Hospital 415 "(1945). Then the hospital was divided into 2 clinics was Ham Nghi and South Vietnam. These two clinics merged in 1957 to become the next Cho Ray Hospital on right. In fact, people still used to call the name of Cho Ray Hospital since its inception.
In 1971, Cho Ray Hospital was rebuilt on an area of 53,000 2 with modern equipment to become one of the largest hospital in Southeast Asia. The work was completed in June 1974, with grant aid of Japanese government. The new building's Cho Ray Hospital today consists of 11 floors.
Under the direct guidance of the Ministry of Health, Cho Ray Hospital with staff of more than 3,200 employees, including 696 professors, doctors, pharmacists and 1349 nurses, 2010 more hospital treatment 1,123,117 medical patients including more than 103,000 emergency; and over 116,000 inpatients. Cho Ray Hospital was actually the base of support and is the last line of the 37 southern provinces, including Ho Chi Minh City.
Cho Ray Hospital was awarded the State:
